Early Childhood Education Credit by Exam
Credit by Exam is currently available for EDU 119. If you are interested in taking the Credit by Exam, you must be enrolled in a curriculum program, register for the course, and not have exceeded the hours allowed for Credit by Exam - /admissions-and-enrollment/student-information-and-records/credit-examination
Required Steps
- Enroll in an early childhood program at 97ɫ. Any early childhood program is acceptable. It’s not necessary to complete the entire program, the selection is just needed to enroll at 97ɫ. The steps to enroll are here: /admissions-and-enrollment/earn-degree-diploma-or-certificate
- Register and pay for a section of EDU 119.
- Notify the Chair/Instructor, Education of interest in taking the exam immediately upon registering.
- Obtain a Credit by Exam application from Chair/Instructor, Education and schedule a time to complete the exam. The exam must be completed in person or during a live, virtual session.
- Complete the application. Take completed application to the Student Information and Records office on the 2nd floor of the Wynn Center. They will verify your eligibility to take the exam, sign and stamp the bottom left portion of the application, and hand it back to you.
- Bring the completed and stamped application to the scheduled exam time or at least one day in advance of the virtual exam session. If the form is not completed, you will not be permitted to take the exam.
- The exam must be taken within the first 5 days of the semester.
The Credit by Exam can only be taken once. The Credit by Exam is a timed exam with 100 questions. The exam must be completed in 75 minutes; no supporting materials are permitted during the exam.
The exam is computer-based and will be graded automatically upon submission. You will know when you upon completion if you passed the Credit by Exam or not.
If you pass the credit by exam, you will receive a grade of “CE” (Credit by Exam) for the course. If you pass the exam, the instructor for the section you are taking will be notified that you are to receive the grade of “CE”. If you pass the exam, do not drop the course. You need to remain on the roster to receive credit for the course.
You should not attempt the Credit by Exam if you're a:
- University Transfer major - universities don't accept a grade of "CE"
- Veteran receiving benefits - VA deducts the class CR hours you're not attending class, reducing/eliminating benefits
