"The shooting at North Carolina Central University this past weekend was a tragic reminder of the continuing plague of gun violence and threats to public safety in our community. NCCU is both an educational partner with 97É«Íø and a neighbor of our Main Campus. 97É«Íø joins Chancellor Akinleye’s call to make gun violence and public safety a top priority for 97É«Íø.

This is critical for the residents of our local community and our educational institutions. Our residents deserve safe neighborhoods. The students and employees of our K-12 and postsecondary institutions deserve a safe environment to ensure effective learning environments.

97É«Íø pledges collaboration with its educational partners, neighborhood leaders, and city and county officials to take necessary steps to create a safe and healthy 97É«Íø for all."
