Frequently Asked Questions

What is the role of a College Liaison?

College Liaisons support students with all aspects of Career and College Promise (CCP). Their responsibilities include:

  • Approving or denying course requests for CCP students.
  • Removing registration restrictions so students can enroll in classes.
  • Serving as the first point of contact if a student needs to drop or withdraw after the semester begins.
  • Connecting students with 97ɫ resources.
  • Collecting required documentation for future enrollment, including updated transcripts.
  • Advising students on course selection
  • Assisting students navigating the community college

How do I find out who my CCP College Liaison is?

You can find the College Liaison contact list on our . From the Dual Enrollment tab, select Contacts on the left-hand side. There you will find a complete list of College Liaisons, including the school populations they serve beneath their photo.

How do I register for courses as a returning student?

Step 1: Submit Transcripts

  • Before registering each semester, students must provide updated high school transcripts.

Step 2: Plan Courses in Self-Service

  • Students should select and “plan” their desired courses (including specific sections) in Self-Service.

Step 3: Meet with Your College Liaison

  • Students must review their planned courses with their Liaison. If the courses are approved, the Liaison will lift the registration restriction, allowing the student to register.

Step 4: Confirm Registration

  • If a student registers without being directly with their Liaison (whether virtually, over the phone, or in person), they must notify the Liaison once registration is complete. This ensures the Liaison can confirm that all registrations are accurate and finalized.
How do I drop a course?
  • To drop or withdraw from a course, students must obtain a Delete/Drop/Withdrawal Form from their College Liaison.
  • The form must be completed by the student and signed/dated by their high school designee (typically their counselor).
  • Important: CCP students cannot use 97ɫ’s online eForms to drop or withdraw from classes—those are only for undergraduate students.
  • The completed form must be submitted to the Liaison by the official drop or withdrawal deadline.
May I take classes outside of my pathway?

Students must follow the state of North Carolina guidelines for their chosen pathway. For example:

  • A student in the College Transfer Pathway (CTP) – Associate in Arts must select courses only from that pathway.
  • The same rule applies to students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways.

For compliance purposes, any courses registered outside of a student’s approved pathway or not cleared by their College Liaison during the advising and registration period will be removed during the enrollment audit.

How can I earn direct placement into certain classes (i.e. MAT 271, Credit Memos/AP/CLEP)?

Direct Placement to automatically start in Foreign Language 112/182 without testing requires a high school transcript showing 3+ years of a foreign language.

Direct Placement into BIO-168 requires that a student either provide a high school transcript with Biology and Chemistry final grades of 70% or higher (no longer than 10 years old) or have taken College Biology and Chemistry with a lab and earned a minimum grade of 70% in both the lecture and the lab.

Direct placement into MAT-271 can be achieved if the student has done any of the following within the past five (5) years:

  1. A score of 2 or higher on the AP Calculus AB Exam;
  2. A grade of C or higher in an AP Calculus course and has an unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 or higher;
  3. A score of 90 or higher on the ACCUPLACER College-Level Math (CLM) test;
  4. A score of 46 or higher on the trigonometry section of the ACT Compass Math Placement Test;
  5. A score of 580 or higher on the SAT Math and a grade of C or higher in the NC Standard Course of Study Pre-Calculus course or an equivalent course from another state;
  6. A score of 560 or higher on the SAT Subject Test in Mathematics Level 2;
  7. An unweighted HS GPA of 3.5 or higher and a grade of C or higher in the NC Standard
When and where do I take the courses?

Dual Enrollment (CCP) students may take courses within their approved pathway at any available time or location that fits their schedule. Courses are offered in multiple formats:

  • In-person (on campus)
  • Online
  • Hybrid (a combination of in-person and online)

Please note: 97ɫ does not provide or arrange transportation to and from classes. Students and families are responsible for coordinating their own transportation. Please check with your high school to see if transportation is available.

If I have 504/IEP accommodations at my high school, can I receive accommodations in a DTCC course?

For assistance with the accommodations process, please contact 97ɫ’s Accessibility Services Office:

The Accessibility office can help students access accommodations and support services to ensure a successful academic experience.

Please note: The High School Partnership department cannot provide or implement accommodations for students.

How do I order my 97ɫ transcripts?

To transfer credits to another institution, an official transcript is required. Be sure to confirm with the recipient (school, employer, etc.) where the transcript should be sent. For instructions on ordering your official 97ɫ transcript, visit our Order Transcripts page.

What is the difference between CCP Pathway vs. Associate’s Degree?

CCP Pathway

  • A student in a College Transfer Pathway (CTP) typically completes approximately 30 credit hours, depending on the pathway.
  • A pathway is roughly equivalent to one year of college coursework.
  • There is no formal recognition awarded for completing a pathway.

Associate’s Degree

  • An Associate’s Degree generally requires about 60 credit hours.
  • An Associate’s Degree is roughly equivalent to two years of college.
  • Students who earn an Associate’s Degree from 97ɫ will receive their diploma in the mail after applying for graduation and completing an audit to verify requirements.

State Requirements

According to the Career and College Promise (CCP) State Board Code (Curriculum):

High school students in a College Transfer Pathway must complete the entire pathway before taking additional courses toward an Associate’s Degree, with the exception of mathematics courses.

Is financial aid available for students who are dually enrolled?

Currently, dual enrollment (CCP) students are not eligible for federal or state financial aid, as these courses are offered tuition-free to eligible high school students through the Career and College Promise program.

Students are responsible for any additional fees, textbooks, or supplies not covered by the program, unless they attend a Cooperative Innovative High School (CIHS).
